Private Senator\'s Bills
A Private Senator's Bill deals with matters of general interest, but is proposed by a Senator in his or her private capacity. They are bills not sponsored by the Government.
Private Senator's Bills are an important vehicle for the development of alternative policies to those of the Government. They give legislative expression to such policies and provide the Parliament with an opportunity to consider them.
Senator Murray is one of the most prolific developers of Private Senator's Bills in the Federal Parliament. Many of his bills have been the subject of Parliamentary Committee Inquiries.
